The Greek Brief With George Moulos

What is the Greek Brief?

The goal is simple: fair, transparent and accessible coverage of the 2027 Greek elections, for Greeks living in Greece and Greeks living around the world. Coverage of the Greek elections in the past is convoluted, biased, emotional, untrustworthy, boring and almost entirely not in English or in a format that is easy for a young Greek or a non-Greek speaker to consume. I, George Moulos want to make these elections consumable for all. I want to break down the language barriers, whether that be from Greek to English or from long complicated politician talk to something even a comedian can understand.

Transparency, fairness and accessibility has never been more important for Greek democracy because these are historic elections. For the first time in the history of Greece an estimated 1.2M new voters have gained realistic access to voting. I’m talking about the Greek diaspora. Whether we like it or not, for the first time in a Greek national election, eligible Greeks living abroad will be able to vote by post.

Postal voting has now been introduced for the national elections, making it dramatically easier for eligible Greeks across the diaspora to participate.

And that’s part of why The Greek Brief exists.

Every political interview follows the same 10-point Greek Brief Charter, publicly available here on georgemoulos.com/thegreekbrief.

Every guest gets the same 90-minute interview.

Every guest is asked the same 10 core questions, plus five questions submitted by the public, alongside questions about their background, policies, record and controversies.

And occasionally, something completely ridiculous, because, again, I’m a comedian.

No politician or political party pays to appear, and no guest pays to be interviewed.

We’ve contacted all candidates and parties from across the political spectrum by phone, email or social media, and we’ll continue inviting different political voices throughout the election.

Guests can disagree with me, challenge the questions, decline questions or tell me I’m an idiot.

But they don’t control the questions or the final edit. I do.

And there’s one final part of this project.

Every guest will be invited to sign an original artwork created by a local Greek artist and leave a few words about democracy and the 2027 elections.

After the election, the completed artwork will be auctioned for charity, with 10% of the proceeds going to the local Greek artist, and 90% directed through the Greek America Foundation to Ronald McDonald House Charities Greece, supporting children receiving cancer treatment and their families. I’d like to do something good for Greece while we argue about the elections.

The purpose of The Greek Brief isn’t to tell you who to vote for.

It’s to let politicians explain who they are, what they believe, what they would actually do with power, and why they think you should vote for them.

Then, you decide.
